Baa (ie, the book meme)
Mar. 5th, 2011 11:50 amThe book(s) I am reading: The Whaleboat House by Mark Mills (murder mystery; not particularly original, but well written and I am enjoying it), The Children's Book by A S Byatt, The Mariner's Role in Collecting Evidence (work, for review). Dipping in and out of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
The book I am writing: Does Sherlock fic count?
The book I love most: What, one? I can't even choose one author.
The last book I received as a gift: Just My Type by Simon Garfield,
The last book I gave as a gift: Ankaret Well's Requite novels, to sillymouse. Or they will be, when I get to the post office.
The nearest book on my desk: I'm on the sofa. Even tie between To Love and be Wise by Josephine Tey, a foot to my left, Don't Sweat the Aubergine by Nicholas Clee, to my right, and Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones on the coffee table (this gives a fairly accurate picture of my domestic arrangements, I fear). On my desk at work; probably the Guardian style guide.
An interesting question that wasn't on this meme: How many books do you have in your house that don't belong to you and/or your partner? Between borrowing from libraries, friends, and books that were - er - inadvertently long term borrowed (only one! honest!), I reckon between 30 and 40.
ETA I can't count. More like 20, I think - still surprised it's not more.
